Hoysala Shaurya Awardee Appeals to CM Siddaramaiah for Uninterrupted Power Supply Ahead of SSLC Exams

Udupi, January 19, 2026: Master Deepesh Deepak Shenoy, a Class X student of T A Pai English Medium High School, Kunjibettu, Udupi (a unit of the Academy of General Education, Manipal), and a recipient of the Hoysala Shaurya Award conferred by the Government of Karnataka for civic courage and presence of mind, has appealed to Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Siddaramaiah Ji to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in view of the forthcoming SSLC examinations scheduled for March–April 2026.

In a representation submitted to the Chief Minister, Deepesh drew attention to frequent unscheduled power outages in his locality and sought immediate inspection and corrective measures. He emphasised that continuous power supply, particularly during morning and daytime hours, is critical for students preparing for the Class X board examinations conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB).

The student stated that repeated power cuts have disrupted regular study schedules, online learning activities, access to digital educational resources, and the charging of electronic devices, thereby causing anxiety and hardship to students and their families during a crucial academic period.

Clarifying his intent, Deepesh said the appeal was made in the larger interest of the student community and not for publicity or personal benefit. He also expressed concern that raising civic issues may sometimes invite harassment, but affirmed his commitment to speaking out in public interest, drawing inspiration from the civic values for which he was honoured with the State’s prestigious Hoysala Shaurya Award.

Quoting former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who described education as “a liberating force,” the student underscored the responsibility of the State to ensure a conducive learning environment for children.

While acknowledging the initiatives and administrative efforts of the Karnataka Government, Deepesh cautioned that in an increasingly digital education system, frequent and unscheduled power interruptions risk adversely affecting students’ academic preparedness and future prospects.

“As a student and a member of the community, I respectfully urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister to act promptly—not just for me, but for every SSLC student striving to secure their future,” he said.
