Ujire: Dr. Sridhara N. Bhatta, Head of the Department of Sanskrit and Administrative Registrar of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire, was recently honoured with the prestigious “Shikshapradana Shiromani” award. The award was conferred by the Karnataka Gamaka Kalaparishat, Hassan District Unit, during the “Gamaka Habba – Kavinamana” programme held in Hassan.
The honour was bestowed in recognition of Dr. Bhatta’s outstanding service in the field of education and his valuable contributions to social and religious activities.
The programme was jointly organised by the Karnataka Gamaka Kalaparishat (Regd.), Bengaluru, its Hassan District Unit, Sri Sitarama Anjaneya Seva Samiti, the Department of Kannada and Culture, Samskara Bharati, Hassan Unit, and other organisations. A special Gamaka recitation and interpretative session was held as part of the event.
Renowned Gamaka artist Vishnuprasad Kalluraya from Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district rendered a soulful rendition of the Atmalinga Prasanga from “Gokarna Mahimadarsha”, composed by poet *Asoori K. Ramasvami Iyengar. The performance captivated the audience with its musical depth. Dr. Sridhara N. Bhatta accompanied the recital with a scholarly and insightful interpretation, which received wide appreciation.
On the same occasion, the reprinted work “Bharata Bhakti Kavya” by Asoori K. Ramasvami Iyengar was formally released by Dr. Bhatta.
The event was graced by the sponsors, members of the family of Vidushi Padmaja Srinivasan, Kalashree Ganesh Udupa, President of the Gamaka Kalaparishat, and other office bearers. The invocation was rendered by Kumari Tanushree. The programme was compered by Prof. G. N. Anasuya, the citation was read by Mamatha V., and the vote of thanks was delivered by Kalashree Ganesh Udupa.
