Aim to produce 25,000 MW of renewable energy in the next 5 years: Gaurav Gupta

- Book release on "How can India make its renewable future, a responsible one"

- Sessions on renewable energy sector organised by KREDL and CEEW.


Bengaluru, March 18, 2026: Karnataka aims to increase renewable energy production to 25,000 MW in the next five years and is implementing supportive policies to achieve this goal, said Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department.


Releasing a book titled " How can India make its renewable future, a responsible one" at an event organized by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (KREDL) and Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Gaurav Gupta said, "We need to achieve the target of 25,000 MW with the cooperation of investors and people."


Gupta highlighted the challenges in land acquisition for renewable energy projects, saying, "People are concerned about the impact on their livelihoods, and investors see this as a hurdle. We need to educate people that renewable energy is crucial for the country's development."


He added that the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mr. Siddaramaiah along with Energy Minister Mr. K.J. George and Revenue Minister,  Mr. Krishna Byre Gowda have simplified land acquisition processes and created a special online portal for investors and farmers to facilitate land conversion. Investors can discuss with farmers and register online  for land conversion post which renewable energy projects can be initiated".


T.D. Rajegowda, MLA and Chairman of KREDL, praised the government's initiatives, including the "Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Scheme". 


He stated " Karnataka has been in the forefront in Renewable Energy and achieved many awards and accolades at the national level. The Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Scheme" announced by Hon’ble CM which combines agriculture and renewable energy is a remarkable project ".


The event featured discussions on various aspects of renewable energy, attended by Mr. K.P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director,  KREDL, Mr. Karthik Ganesan, Director,  CEEW and other senior officials of the department and industry representatives.
