Samsung Innovation Campus Launched at NMIT to Train Students in Artificial Intelligence

Bengaluru: Stressing the urgent need to modernise academic curricula to meet the demands of rapidly evolving technologies, Prof. A.H. Rajasab, Chairman of the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy, Government of Karnataka, said that existing educational frameworks are insufficient to prepare students as future leaders in science and technology. He emphasised that education must actively promote critical thinking in the context of technological advancements to enable sustained progress.

Prof. Rajasab was speaking at the inauguration of the Samsung Innovation Campus at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, established by Samsung’s Research and Development initiative in collaboration with Nitte (Deemed to be University). The campus aims to provide advanced training in Artificial Intelligence and related emerging technologies. As part of the programme, 80 students have been selected for intensive training during the current academic year.

Calling upon the younger generation to channel innovation towards national priorities, Prof. Rajasab highlighted the agricultural sector as a critical area requiring technological solutions, particularly to address acute labour shortages that hinder growth.

The event was attended by Mohan Rao Goli, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director of Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore, who served as the Chief Guest. He stated that the Samsung Innovation Campus at NMIT would open new avenues for students to gain industry-relevant skills in information technology and cutting-edge technological domains. He also noted that India holds a strategic advantage in the global talent landscape, with nearly 371 million people in the 15–29 age group.

Srimanu Prasad and Dr. Lokesh R. Boregowda from Samsung were present as Guests of Honour.

The programme was chaired by Vishal Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), who underscored the role of diligence as a key determinant of student success, influencing academic performance, personal development, and future career outcomes.

Earlier, Dr. H.C. Nagaraj, Principal of NMIT, welcomed the gathering. The event was attended by Rohit Punja, Trustee of Nitte Education Trust; Prof. Sandeep Shastri, Vice President of Nitte (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru campus; along with faculty members and students.

Dr. Karunakara Rai B., Head of the Samsung Innovation Campus at Nitte (Deemed to be University), delivered the vote of thanks.
