BENGALURU: In a major community outreach initiative, the Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology has announced its flagship event, NitteOn 2026 – Run for Her, scheduled to take place on May 24, 2026. The massive marathon will kick off at 6:00 AM from Orion Mall, bringing together over 3,000 participants from across the city to celebrate health, positivity, and collective social responsibility. This year's edition carries a dual significance for the institution, as it simultaneously commemorates 25 years of academic excellence and rallies the city around a strong message of women's empowerment and unity in celebration of Mother's Day.
The marathon has drawn widespread interest from a highly diverse crowd across the tech hub, including university students, corporate professionals, families, fitness enthusiasts, and local citizen groups. To accommodate the varied fitness levels of this massive gathering, organizers have designed three distinct race routes. Seasoned athletes and serious runners will compete in the 10-kilometer timed run, intermediate runners will participate in the 5-kilometer power run, and families, children, and casual walkers will join the inclusive 3-kilometer fun run.
While top performers across the competitive tiers will vie for a share of a substantial prize pool worth 2.22 Lakh rupees, university officials emphasize that the gathering is envisioned as a celebration of strength, resilience, compassion, and togetherness rather than a simple athletic competition. Institutional representatives stated that NitteOn 2026 stands as a symbol of unity and community spirit, bringing people together to honor the enduring impact of women in society while marking a quarter-century of the college's educational journey.
Registered participants will receive an official premium running kit, which includes a dry-fit T-shirt and a bib number, and all individuals who complete their designated routes will be awarded a commemorative medal. With the flag-off scheduled for the early morning, local authorities and organizing committees have fully coordinated to set up necessary hydration stations, medical aid tents, and route safety support along the entire course around Orion Mall to ensure a seamless experience for all attendees.
