MANGALURU: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Regional Office, Mangaluru, has swiftly processed and disbursed the social security benefits payable to the family of Late Shri Manish Karkada, an EPF member who tragically died in an industrial accident at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) on September 30, 2026.
Demonstrating notable efficiency, the EPFO settled the complete Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) dues, alongside sanctioning a monthly family pension, within nine days of the tragedy—with all benefits settled and commenced on October 8, 2026.
In a gesture of solidarity, senior EPFO officials personally visited the residence of Late Shri Manish Karkada on Friday, October 9, 2026, to hand over the Pension Payment Order (PPO) directly to the beneficiary. The visiting delegation included Shri Sandeep Biswas, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, accompanied by Shri Ankit Singh, Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, and Smt. Anitha R, Enforcement Officer.
Speaking on the initiative, officials emphasized EPFO’s compassionate approach and its mandate to stand by member families during times of unforeseen tragedy. EPFO representatives expressed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed the organization's commitment to ensuring fast-track financial assistance and social security delivery in emergency situations.
