Mangaluru: In a swift action, Mangaluru City Police on Saturday detained three women and seized their car for throwing waste into Netravathi river near Mangaluru.
Cases under Section 269 and 270 of IPC for indulging in acts of spreading infectious diseases were booked against them by Kankanady Town Police on the complaint of Mangaluru City Corporation’s health officer.
Police have also requested the magistrate to book them under the Epidemic Diseases Act for not wearing face covers properly.
This should serve as a warning to litterbugs who pollute the environment by reckless dumping of waste.
Two ladies came in a bengaluru registerd car this morning, stopped on Netravathi bridge and thrown some waste into the river. Someone who saw this incident, recorded video and made it viral in social media.
After this City police acted swiftly and seized the car and registered an FIR.
