Puttur: A Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant, established to scientifically process municipal organic waste and promote environmental protection, will be inaugurated on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Swachha–Binnuru Dumping Yard of the Puttur City Municipal Council.
The project has been implemented by Krishnamuliya Green Energy LLP in association with Rotary Club Puttur East, Swachh Bharat Charitable Trust, and Ritap Solutions Private Limited, with the cooperation of the Puttur City Municipal Council.
The facility will be inaugurated by Ashok Kumar Rai, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Puttur. The ceremonial lamp will be lit by Captain Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada. The program will be presided over by Krishnanarayana Muliya, Managing Director of Krishnamuliya Green Energy LLP.
Distinguished guests expected to attend the event include Kishore Kumar Botyadi, Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council; Stella Varghese, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Puttur; Vidya Kale, Commissioner of the Puttur City Municipal Council; and Sanjeeva Matandoor, former MLA of Puttur.
Other dignitaries who are expected to be present include Leelavathi Annu Naik, former President of the Puttur City Municipal Council; H.R. Keshav, former Rotary District Governor (District 3181); Dr. Divya Prashanth, Director of Ritap Solutions Private Limited; and Ro. Shashidhar Kinnimajalu, President of Rotary Club Puttur East.
The CBG plant will process organic waste collected from the city to produce bio-gas. The project is expected to improve waste management, reduce environmental pollution, and lower carbon emissions. The gas produced at the facility may also be used as fuel for vehicles.
Organizers have invited the public to attend the program in large numbers and make the event a success.
Expected Benefits of the CBG Plant
Residents living near the dumping yard are expected to get relief from unpleasant odors.
Methane emissions, which are far more harmful than carbon dioxide, will be captured and prevented from entering the atmosphere.
The plant will help reduce the land required for waste dumping.
If CBG is used for cooking or as vehicle fuel, it may help reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and save foreign exchange.
Using CBG as an alternative to diesel in vehicles is expected to reduce harmful emissions.
The system will help prevent leachate from dumping yards contaminating groundwater, which can pose serious health risks.
The by-product from the plant can be used as a high-quality organic fertilizer.
The facility is expected to generate employment for about 6 to 10 people.
