Bengaluru: Over 1,000 participants from different parts of the city came together on Sunday for ‘NitteOn 2026 – Run for Her’, a marathon organised by Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology as part of the institution’s silver jubilee celebrations. The event was held at Orion Mall to celebrate Mother’s Day and honour the strength, sacrifice and unconditional love of mothers.
Inaugurating the event, Rohit Punja said the marathon was dedicated to mothers who guide, support and sacrifice for their children throughout life.
“Every step we take today is a tribute to the woman who first taught us to walk and encouraged us to move forward in life. This run is an opportunity to express gratitude to mothers for their endless love and strength,” he said.
Participants included students, professionals, families, fitness enthusiasts and members of the public, who turned out in large numbers to support the cause and spread awareness about maternal strength and wellbeing.
Flagging off the marathon, Dr. H.C. Nagaraj described mothers as the “first coaches” in every person’s life.
“From tying our shoelaces to cheering us at the finish line, mothers inspire us at every step. Today, we run for the strongest women we know,” he remarked.
The organisers said the event aimed to combine fitness, community participation and social awareness while marking 25 years of academic excellence of the institution.
