Education without Human Values is Futile: B. K. Hariprasad

Mangalore: There is still a lot of superstitions deeply rooted in the country. The nation has lagged due to caste and religious issues. It is regretful that education is being considered limited only to employment. Today, without imparting education enriched with human values, societal reform is not possible, according to Legislative Council member B. K. Hariprasad.

Speaking at the Narayana Guru Jayanti program organized by the Brahmashri Narayana Guru Study Chair, B. K. Hariprasad said that Brahmarshi Narayana Guru was a great philosopher born after Buddha and Basavanna. Savitribai Phule laid the foundation for women's education, which was carried forward by Brahmarshi. He united society by advocating that everyone deserves education, regardless of caste or religion.

Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. L. Dharma said that Narayana Guru understood the truths of life while he was still a student. He comprehended the minds of people from all stages of life, from children to the elderly, providing solace to all. He foresaw that the caste system would be an obstacle for the nation, which is why Narayana Guru proclaimed that there should be only one caste.

Principal Prof. Ganapati Gowda, advisory committee members of Narayana Guru Chair Alumni Association members and students were present.
